The Ukrainian community in CMT presents a play based on the work of the prominent Ukrainian writer of the "Executed Renaissance" era — the 1920s and 1930s — Lyudmyla Starytska-Chernyakhivska. We strive to evaluate the historical experience and answer the question: "Why did we fail 300 years ago?" We aim to understand the reasons behind the fatal defeats in the fight for Ukraine's independence during the existence of the Hetmanate, particularly under the rule of Ivan Mazepa. Today, this work is perceived as an act of resurrection and affirmation of the spirit of Ukrainian statehood during a time of great challenges. It seems more relevant than ever...
